This fall, the CIP Americas Program will be touring cities in the United States to speak about the devastating effects of the U.S.-backed war on drugs in Mexico and Central America. Director Laura Carlsen will be speaking at universities and community centers in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, North Carolina and Washington D.C. about the U.S. role in the the surge of violence and militarization of the region, the impact on women and especially women human rights defenders and the geopolitical economical reasons behind the disastrous security policies being applied.
On the first leg of the tour, we are very pleased and proud to join forces with the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity (Movimiento por la Paz con Justicia y Dignidad-Mexico), presenting with Araceli Rodriguez Nava, a spokesperson for the movement whose son was disappeared in 2009.
